Bikes of Elgin: Katie

Katie is an everyday bike rider, using a bike for work commutes and for life's errands. She rides about three miles a day to get to work and back, using a car about one day a week. She puts in additional biking miles when she travels around town for meetings and visits as part of her job as a local pastor. Katie hopes to continue her bike commute in the winter. Of riding daily she says, "It's addictive." Although she calls the old city grid at the heart of Elgin "ideal for biking" she notes that additional bike lanes, driver education, and traffic calming measures would make her commute even more enjoyable.
